Jaxon Haldane is a songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. As a member of the legendary bluegrass mutants, The D.Rangers, he travelled across the country carving out his place in the Canadian folk music scene. He has collaborated with iconic figures like The Sadies and The Bad Livers, has produced or engineered albums for luminaries such as Willie P. Bennett, Romi Mayes, Jonathan Byrd and Little Miss Higgins and has demonstrated, through his own catalogue of original recordings, a deft touch for songwriting. The songs deal with diverse themes and the music itself is born primarily of elements of blues, country, folk and jazz blended into an eclectic mix of proto-rock and roll.
As a recently expatriated Winnipegger(Manitoba, Canada) living in Oklahoma, Haldane’s current material reflects his experience as an outsider, witness to a strange political, musical and historical landscape rich with fodder for songwriting. Much of Haldane’s themes and stylistic approaches have been derived by blending his Canadian influences like Fred Eaglesmith, The Band and Neil Young with great Oklahoma musicians of the past like Roger Miller, Bob Wills, Woody Guthrie, Charlie Christian and JJ Cale.
Jaxon is currently working on a new recording set for release in 2016. A worldwide support tour is booked and Haldane is excited to take a new batch of songs on the road to share with the good people of Canada, the U.S., Europe, the U.K. and Australia. Come check out a performance near you.
